Weird Dream

Okay, last night I had a sweet dream I just had to share with everyone. I'm not sure why I had this dream, but it was the best kind of dream because I woke up not to the alarm clock but because my dream had just finished.... good dreams are ruined by alarm clocks interrupting them before they are finished. All right, so here's what I remember from it... I have a friend with a really great car, and she says that I'm allowed to drive it for an hour if I want to. So, she leaves, except I guess I forget to get the keys from her. And I'm about to just forget it, but then this guy somehow makes a special way that I can use the car without keys by using some sort of watermark instead (right, just remember this is a dream, okay) and I can drive the car, except I'm not going to be able to shift down except into first... (I can shift up as much as I want, and have it in neutral, just I can't shift down except all the way) but I drive it anyways. Okay. I'm not sure if such a car exists in this colour, but it turned out to be a black Aston Martin Vanquish, yup, I saw that car once before in Vancouver and I'll put a picture of it up below this post. Anyways, so all of a sudden I'm in this race/high speed chase to get away from the bad guys at nightime in Dawson Creek. Yes, that's right. I'm heading straight down 8th towards the railway tracks, when suddenly, oh no, there's a train coming. And then for whatever reason I'm suddenly driving a motorcycle. And I'm going to stop and let the train go by, but then the guy I'm driving with decides he's going to make it through, so he gets on in front of the motorcycle and we make it through, leaving a bunch of the bad guys behind us. But then there's something wrong with the bike when I get on it again, so we have to stop, and the guy had messed up the wheels... so I fix them, and then we make it down to the end of town, except suddenly the scene changes again and we're in the middle of a brutal hockey game on the far side of Dawson Creek without any rules at all, except it's not really hockey because we're all on these insane rollerblades that are nitro powered. Right, so this is the long part of the dream, but to make a long story short, I finally win the game and wake up. All right, just another random post... over and out.

This is the pic I took in Vancouver, that's my friend Carson in front. Posted by Hello

... and the back! Also, just wanted to mention, that at the time I took this picture, there were about 6 of these in North America, but now there's a few more.... Posted by Hello

I just thought his baseball cap was pretty cool. Posted by Hello

Famous Person at my "Place of Work"

All right, it took some persuading, but I guess I have to post about this one. Tonight, I was doing security for a pandas hockey game, and it was a bigger event this time, because there was the unveiling of the panda's last season's championship banner. It was also the first west conference game here in Edmonton. So there was a bit of a ceremony, and then the game went on (it was against Saskatchewan). So what, you ask? who cares? Well, I guess one of the Saskatchewan players (I forgot her name..how horribly typical of me to only care about her famous older brother... )happened to be playing, and her famous older brother happened to be watching. And her famous older brother also happens to have the same jersey number (12) and he's the captain of the Calgary Flames, Jarome Iginla. All right, so I guess I had to share that. He was wearing a red baseball cap and I felt kinda bad for the poor guy because he was just there to watch his sister play but he was the one getting all the attention. And all the players on his sister's team flocked over to see him afterwards, provoking jealousy in most of the guys I worked with. Which makes sense, I mean, how does all that wonderful NHL money, a cool career, awesome skills, and a neat red baseball cap make him look good to girls? But all that's moot point, because he just had a baby this week (if you check out that link and scroll down the page, there's a short article on that) with his wife, Kara. When I heard that, I was thinking of going over to congratulate them, but I figured I should let the poor guy have his peace. Well, that's pretty much all I have to say. Except that I'm not really that happy about the NHL being on strike this year, I do enjoy the little I get to see and a winter without hockey and only a small amount of snowboarding makes me cry a little inside. Still, it means we get a better turnout at our games which is a good thing. And, on a final note, the pandas play the huskies again tomorrow at 7pm, so if anyone wants to see that, chances are he might be there again.

Kind of like this, near the knuckle (what a funny word, knuckle. It even looks funny.) Except not quite that size of chunk. That would hurt. Ouch. Posted by Hello

Xray Vision

Well, today I did something pretty cool. I squashed my finger a week ago, and it hurt pretty bad, but I figured it was just a sprain or something little. So I taped it up, went on my way. But it didn't seem to go away, and last night it woke me up and I couldn't get back to sleep... so I decided to do something about it (haha, I've started to notice I won't go see a doctor until my sleep is affected... can see where my priorities are!!!) . I went to the clinic at school, and the doctor decided to send me to get xrays, across at the van vliet sports clinic. So I walked across the street and got xrays done!!! I just thought that was the coolest thing ever. I haven't had xrays done since I was really little and could barely remember. So, they wrapped me in a lead blanket (that kinda amused me) and the radiologist and doctor let me check out the xrays after, but they wouldn't let me keep them. I thought that would kinda be cool to keep, but I guess they need them on file for the next 5 years. So, what happened was that I fractured a little piece out of the middle bone in my finger, and I have to keep my entire hand immobilized now, except I'm allowed to move my other fingers a little. The tendons are pulling the piece away from the bone every time I move my hand, and it needs to stay in place so that it can stick back to the finger. So now I get my finger stuck in a splint thing for about 3 weeks, then I go back for xrays again in November. And now I have to go study for my midterm... haven't figured out how I'm gonna write that yet, but we'll see how it goes. Feel sorry for any TA that has to read my writing!!! So, that's my story. And for the record, fingers look really cool in xrays. Maybe I should go be a radiologist. Then I could keep all the xrays I want, except the ones that have to stay hidden in the patient's files.

Just another interesting picture... this is "echo stone" on ubc campus. So named because when you stand on it and say something loud enough, you can hear its echo... but no one else, no matter how close they are, can hear it.  Posted by Hello

Well, I guess I forgot I've taken so many pictures... these are sculptures on the SFU campus. They amuse me. I'm hoping someone'll comment on them. Posted by Hello

Doesn't the guy with the shades look happier anyways? Posted by Hello

Top Five Ways to get a Guy to Remove "Facial Hair" (according to Nisha and Sue)

If the first step does not work, move onto the next.

1) I just think you would look so much more attractive without the extra hair... why don't you give it a try?

2) One second... I think you have dirt on your face. Let me try to scrub that off for you... what? it's not coming off!!! .... oh, I see. It's just your facial hair.

3)(Spread wax onto cloth. Hold in hand.) Here, let me touch your face...

4) Trip. With disposable razor in hand.

5) Trip. With electric razor in hand.

Look close. You will see that they are completely non-synchronized. It's mesmerizing. Posted by Hello

Windshield Wipers

Random Thought of the day: I was just discussing this with Ian, but I need to share it with the world. Has anyone ever noticed that the windshield wipers on school buses are different speeds... and that they only synchronize for a few wipes, and then do their own random thing? I just found this very interesting.

DJ For a Day

All right, this is just a blog about my weekend job. This weekend I worked four hockey games at school. The tournament was between Saskatchewan, UBC, Calgary, Grant MacEwan, U of A and Lethbridge. Mostly I just did security, which is pretty easy, it's just watching after the crowds and paying attention to the game in case a puck flies out and hits someone in the head. Which I haven't witnessed yet, not even with all my careful watching. And Sunday I worked two soccer games, which would have been cool (they were awesome games) except it was freezing and my bronchitis didn't like that much. Anyways, it's pretty obvious that I have the coolest job there is out there. I watch live sports and get paid to do it. Well, getting to my story, on Saturday night the final hockey game was between Grant MacEwan and U of A. My "job"... get this... was to DJ the music for the game. Pretty sweet deal. Except the mix of songs to choose from was pretty unusual and all over the place.... there were quite a few songs with f-bombs that I tried to avoid, but I accidently ended up playing one (I didn't really know the song, but a bunch of my fellow workers sure did... I guess I cut it off right before the swearword got played). And I accidently played a country song called "She thinks she needs me"... I had no clue it was gonna be so bad!! Ahhh!! So embarrassing. Well, the final score for the game ended up being 3-1 for... Grant MacEwan!! Which is absolutely hilarious. The Bears might have been playing absolutely horribly, but that's still pretty funny that the #1 ranked team from last year's season and this year's preseason ended up loosing to the local college team. But Grant Mac's got a good team, so it could be worse. I didn't realize this, but apparently I played "Do you Believe in Miracles?" after U of A scored their first goal and I got razzed on that. On a final note, I have dropped my french course and my stress has decreased a thousand percent, my free time and general happiness has gone through the roof, the amount of free oxygen making it to my lungs is almost nill, and I'm feeling like I've had enough mustard for a lifetime's worth of hot dogs.
